Kundalini is very effective for balancing glands, organs and healing the physical/emotional body. this class focuses on the relationship of movement and breath. You will build strength and flexibility, improve circulation and increase your awareness of all the wonderful sensations in the body. We will move through modified sun salutations as well as balancing and seated postures. This class is an energetic, creative, dynamic approach to embodying the flow of yoga and experiencing prana - the universal source of breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence. Perfect for those already accustomed to yoga.
Yoga is a practice of integration. The poses and focus on breathing, help to strengthen and align your body, mind and spirit. This is an effective way to tone and strengthen your body as well as increase flexibility. This class is both challenging yet gentle; integrating yoga postures as well as Pilates based exercises. It includes powerful pranayama practice – breathing techniques- to restore your nervous and glandular systems as well as improve digestion; Naad yoga-yoga of sound- through chanting as well as movement meditations. Tribal-style belly dance - beginning - An opportunity to learn the steps and the movements of an ancient dance form, updated to please and enliven our modern bodies. For the adolescent yogi we offer a teen's class (age 13-18) focusing on a playful, yet disciplined practice of asana, pranayama and relaxation. Yoga can help and empower teenagers to increase focus, self-esteem, self-awareness and confidence. It promotes a sense of well-being while developing strength and flexibility. Each class will kick off with gentle stretches to help awaken your body and mind. We'll then move through a variety of standing and sitting postures, as well as backbends, twists, and inversions, designed to develop strength and flexibility. While each class will be sequenced so that you can flow easily from one posture to another, all classes will also emphasize proper muscular alignment and include vital information on the correct use of props. Finally, a variety of breathing techniques will also be used to energize your body! Come back into shape & bond with your baby! This class is appropriate for moms with babies six weeks to crawling (18 months). Bring a blanket for your baby. Yogini moms of all levels are welcome. This class accommodates babies from crawling to toddling and is an opportunity to continue your yoga practice as your baby learns to play and discover his or her world in a safe, relaxed and fun environment. Soft toys are welcome during class! Kids just want to have fun and this class is not only fun but teaches kids balance, flexibility, strength as well as giving them tools to relax while cultivating their creativity. They will learn techniques for greater concentration and stress reduction. Yoga is a powerful tools to help a children gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their bodies. This class teaches kids techniques for concentration and relaxation in the context of improvisation. It teaches them body awareness through movement and performance. The last class will invite parents and friends. If you love to dance or have never danced, this class will put you at ease with your own flow. Starting with a gentle Yoga warm up, it will take you through a free style dance workout with drum music. Let yourself go with the beat. Dance away any stress or tension. It’s like getting a musical massage. This class begins at the studio for a special yoga warm up and prepares you for a yoga walk that will include mantras, intentions and breathing techniques. It will end in the studio with more yoga and a relaxation. Introduction to the Basics of Meditation The purpose of this class is to provide the experience of the different meditation approaches available to us. In this three part class you will learn some of the basics of different meditation practices. The first night will focus on breath meditation. The second night we will experience a few of the many different forms of guided meditations and their benefits. The final class will explore mantra meditation and close with a group meditation using a mantra. After taking this class you will have knowledge and experience of some meditation practices to continue with at home on your own. This is a five part series of weekly sessions beginning Tuesday night January 31st. The purpose of this gathering time is to provide the practitioner with the opportunity to sit in group meditation. There will be a brief opening, followed by a thirty minute meditation and then closure. These will not be guided meditations but sitting in silence together. The participant may choose between breath or mantra technique for these sessions. Group meditations offer the experience of a deeper meditation from the collective focus of energy. Private yoga lessons can help increase your understanding of alignment, breathing or therapeutic needs. You can use the opportunity to develop a home practice designed just for you and/or to work with a specific health concern.
